SUSPENSION OF SITTING OF COURTS<\/h5>

I append a determination of the Honourable The Chief Justice under Rule 62(1) and (2) of the Supreme Court Rules 1978. I am also directed by the Hon.Chief Justice to draw your attention to pare (3) of the said Rules which reads as follows:- “During the period of suspension of sitting of Court of First Instance the Judge of the Court shall, unless he has previously taken leave, be available at his station for the disposal of any urgent matters”.<\/p>

DETERMINATION UNDER RULE 62(1) AND (2) OF THE SUPREME COURT
RULES 1978 (SUSPENSION OF SITTINGS)<\/h5>

I hereby determine that:-<\/p>

1. The date for the commencement of the first period of suspension of sittings of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal and the Courts of First Instance in the year 2012 will be\u00a0Monday the 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0April 2012<\/strong>.

The ordinary sittings of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal will be resumed on\u00a0Monday the 23rd<\/sup>\u00a0April 2012<\/strong>.

The Ordinary sittings of the High Courts will be resumed on\u00a0Wednesday the<\/strong>\u00a018th<\/sup>\u00a0April 2012<\/strong>.

The ordinary sittings of the other Courts of First Instance will be resumed on\u00a0Monday the 16th<\/sup>\u00a0April 2012<\/strong>.<\/p>

2. The date of the commencement of the second period of suspension of sittings of the Supreme court, the Court of Appeal and the Courts of First Instance in the year 2011 will be\u00a0Monday the<\/strong>\u00a013th<\/sup>\u00a0August 2012.<\/strong>

The ordinary sittings of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal will be resumed\u00a0Monday the<\/strong>\u00a027th<\/sup>\u00a0August 2012<\/strong>.

The Ordinary sittings of the High Courts will be resumed on Wednesday the\u00a022nd<\/sup>\u00a0August 2012<\/strong>.

The ordinary sittings of the other Courts of First instance will be resumed on\u00a0Monday the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0August 2012<\/strong>.<\/p>

3. The date for the commencement of the third period of suspension of sittings of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal and the Courts of First Instance in the year 2011 will be\u00a0Monday the 24th<\/sup>\u00a0December 2012<\/strong>.

The ordinary sittings of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal will be resumed on\u00a0Monday the 14th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2013<\/strong>. If Tamil Thaipongal Day falls on 14th January 2013, the court ordinary sittings of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal will be resumed on\u00a0Tuesday the 15th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2013.
<\/strong>
The ordinary sittings of the High Courts will be resumed on\u00a0Wednesday the 9th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2013<\/strong>.

The ordinary sittings of the other Courts of First Instance will be resumed on\u00a0Monday the 7th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2013.<\/strong><\/p>
